How it works

How email verification works.

The whole job, from messy list to clean list, takes minutes. Here's what happens after you click upload, in plain English.

  1. 01

    Drop your list in

Drag in a CSV, paste a list of addresses, or hook up your email tool in one click. The original stays exactly where you put it; we work on a copy.

Worth knowing: You can also pipe addresses to us one at a time through our API, so dodgy emails get caught at signup.

  2. 02

    We clean it

Eight checks run on every address in seconds. You watch the good ones come back green and the bad ones turn red, with a one-line reason for each.

Worth knowing: The dashboard streams progress as the run works through the file, so you can see deliverable, risky, and undeliverable counts move in real time.

  3. 03

    Send to real people

Download the clean list as a CSV and push it back into whatever you send from. Bad addresses get tagged so they stay out of your next campaign.

Worth knowing: Want to be cautious? Hold back the iffy ones for a smaller test send first. The reasons are right there to help you decide.

Curious what we actually check?

Here are the eight things we look at on every email.

You don't see any of this in the app. We just do it. But if you're the kind of person who wants to know what's going on under the hood, here you go.

  1. Check 01

    Spelled right?

Catches typos like 'gmial.com' and broken formatting like 'john@@example'. Quick, easy, free wins.

  2. Check 02

    Real domain?

Checks the bit after the @ actually exists and can receive email. If the domain is dead, the address is too.

  3. Check 03

    Mailbox really there?

We quietly ask the mail server if that specific address exists. No emails get sent. No one in your list gets pinged.

  4. Check 04

    Or is it pretending?

Some servers say 'yes' to every address. We test a couple of fake ones to figure out if they're really telling the truth.

  5. Check 05

    Burner account?

Throwaway sites like 10minutemail spin up new domains every day. We keep a fresh list and flag them on sight.

  6. Check 06

    Real person or a desk?

Addresses like info@ or admin@ aren't real people. We mark them so you can decide what to send them.

  7. Check 07

    How's the history?

We check whether this address has bounced or complained when other people sent to it. Old patterns predict new bounces.

  8. Check 08

    Final answer

Good to send, risky, or don't send. One clear verdict with a one-line reason. Nothing hidden, nothing fancy.

What it can't fix

Honest about the limits.

No email tool can do everything. We'd rather tell you upfront where the ceiling is than have you surprised later.

  • Some big providers like Gmail and Yahoo intentionally refuse to confirm if a mailbox exists. That's their right. For those, we lean on real bounce data from other senders to score the address. It's not perfect, and we won't pretend it is.
  • Email addresses go stale. The one that worked today might be dead in six months. If you have a big list and you send rarely, run it through us again before each major campaign.
  • Cleaning your list won't fix everything. If you have bad SPF or DKIM setup, or if you're sending content that looks like spam, your emails will still struggle. We help with the address side; the rest is on you.
  • We give you a 'risky' bucket on purpose. When we're not sure, we say so. Other tools quietly hide their guesses. We'd rather be honest.

Test it on your own list, free.

Send us 100 of your real addresses. We'll clean them, show you the results, and let you compare against your last campaign. No card needed.
